GRIMLOCK - A name that is very familiar to transformers fans. The mere mention of the name invokes memories of a simple minded, bungling but immensely powerful robotic T-Rex. But this is not that Grimlock, this is just someone that shares his name, albeit he's a velociraptor instead of a T-Rex. I don't know much about this particular Grimlock, with whatever I could find online pointing out he's from some kind of comic, as he never appeared in the Beast Wars cartoon. Let's take a look.

The Box

Loose, no box. But this Grimlock came in a 2 pack with Mirage in case you're wondering.


Dino Mode

In case you haven't noticed, Grimlock is a repaint of Kingdom Dinobot. He's a mix of white, gray and black. His eyes are painted green.  Plastic is nicely textured to to simulate the skin of the raptor. It's surprisingly articulated in this form and fun to pose. 

Robot Mode

Now we enter the bot mode. As I mentioned before Grimlock shares the same mold with Dinobot but with a new head. And I gotta say I love the new head. It's a homage to G1 Grimlock but more...."animefied" with the heroic sharp edges you'd normally see on Japanese Super Robots i.e Gaogaigar

 

Poseability in bot mode is good. You can pull off some crazy poses and if you have a stand and more imagination than me, you could do some epic poses and fight scenes. This is definitely a perfect photoshop model. Also to note, in bot mode you can see more of the brown color that's mostly hidden in dino mode on his legs. 

Accessories

Grimlock comes with a sword and his tail shield/blaster. Again the same as Dinobot. In Dino mode the sword actually stores in the shield and becomes the tail of the dino mode.

If you have any energy or blast effects lying around you can plug it in to the blaster shield thing.


Conclusion

This was another surprise for me in recent weeks. Transformers as of late have become very good. Transformation, poseability, paint job etc This was a really good "jackpot" find. The other being Generations Selects G2 Megatron. It's a solid 9/10 for me.
