Johnny Lightning - Romulan D7 Battlecruiser

Brand : Johnny Lightning

Ship : Romulan D7 Battlecruiser

Series : Star Trek

Price : I think I got it for Rm15. A friend saw it and grabbed it for me from a Japanese thrift shop thing.

What we have here ladies and gents is a very old line of Star Trek ships. Way before the days of Eaglemoss and even they are dead now. Now if you're wondering why the  Romulans have a ship that's is clearly Klingon in origin, well according to lore, the Romulans and the Klingons had a history of trading technology. In this case, the Roms get a powerful ship design and the Klingons get cloaking technology. And thus the Romulan D7 was born.

Sculpt

The general look of the D7 is there. Granted it's not as detailed as newer releases from Eaglemoss, but for it's time and for what it is, it's good enough. Painted windows, details on the wings and the Romulan bird of prey on the underside of the ship. The Bridge module is not really painted with only the 2 red lights near them. The torpedo launcher detail is also there.

Construction

The ship itself is made from plastic, fairly durable stuff with the exception of the nacelles. It's not uncommon to have the nacelles broken off in box as you can see from the picture above. The stand though is made from metal, which is nice, with a ball joint to plug into a hole on the underside of the ship so you can pose it around.

Conclusion

For Rm15 this thing is a really nice little ship. If you can find it on the cheap grab it, especially if you're a Star Trek fanboy like me. A solid 7/10
