ARES NITROGEN - Or should I call it Nitro Zeus? It's a KO of the Nitro Zeus toy that has been Oversized and improved by miles, courtesy of Black Mamba. If you have the original, it's essentially the same thing, just bigger, better painted and has die cast bits. Let's get on to the review.

Jet Mode

In Jet mode Ares here transform into a very close facsimile of a Saab JAS 39 Gripen from Sweden. You can read more about it here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_JAS_39_Gripen

In this mode the cockpit opens and you can put in a mini figure in there if you have any. I put in my oversized Movie Spike that I got from my  Weijiang MPP10 here. It comes with a retractable front landing gear. And the bottom part you can see the gorgeously painted body of nitro. But at the very least the bot mode in somewhat integrated in the jet mode and not just a robot with a jet for a backpack and he just needs to lie down to become a jet. Looking at you Universe Silverbolt!

All in all a good, big and hefty jet mode that you can whoosh around.

Robot Mode

Robot Mode is where Ares Nitrogen really shines. The details and molding that were available on the original but not painted really pop here. Giving Ares a spectacular presence. He has die cast bits adding to the heft and stability and solidity of the figure. He also an amazing amount of articulation, similar to your Marvel legends. The only thing missing is a waist turn and ab crunch.  He comes with an alternate head ( that I have misplaced :( ) that looks more like the Bayverse Shockwave. I remember reading somewhere or watching a video that says Nitro Zeus was a Shockwave fanboy...eehhhh.

He has his missiles in back mounted on the 2 wings that seem to be folded into some kind of big Mega Blaster thing (hey its your robot, give it whatever powers you want). Retractable cannon on the left arm and a crossbow blaster on his right arm that is also the cockpit in jet mode.

All in all I love it, and also one of the few Bayverse designs I actually like.

Conclusion

We now live in a age where the so called KO's are actually superior to the originals in most cases and this is one of those examples. So if you see this GRAB IT!! 9/10
