Slimer - Real Ghostbusters

 Toyline : Real Ghostbusters

By :  Kenner (bought over by hasbro)

Release date : 1989

Price : I dunno, let's ask 1989 me...... :P

Slimer, for as long as I can remember he was effectively the Ghostbusters pet ghost. Much to the dismay of Peter Venkman, who usually get's slimed both in the cartoon and movies. And today we're going to take a look at a really old toy from the 80s.

The Box

Surprisingly I still have the box, it definitely has seen better days, but the fact that it still exist is already a miracle. Can see the rest of the toys in the lineup from back then. Enjoy and read up :D

The figure

And now we get to the figure, its very basic by today's standards. No swappable hands or face or a bajillion articulation points. But the simplicity of the design serves its purpose, especially for 1989 me. He was such a happy camper.  Slimer has the Ghostbusters logo on his left shoulder and the trademark stamp at the back of his head.

Accessories

Slimer comes with a blue proton pack with an orange neutrona wand/proton gun.  Basic, but it works.

Features

As is standard with the so called "action" feature of toys during the time which usually involves squeezing the arms or the legs. For slimer just squeeze his left arm and his eyes will pop out and his mouth will open.

Conclusion

Nostalgia is what usually carries toys like these and its value high. Memories attached to it is what makes it so valuable and fun to play with despite more modern and "superior" alternatives existing. But for what it is, a toy from the 80s representing a character from a beloved TV show from that era. It does it's job well. I don't know if you can still find it these days, but if you can and you love Ghostbusters, grab it if you can.
