Ghostbusters Afterlife Review -
The 80s, for a lot of people in their 30s and 40s now, this was the era where they spent most if not all of their childhood growing up and being exposed to pop culture and saturday morning cartoons. From the ninja turtles, starcom, transformers and the one I'm talking about today. Ghostbusters.
Peter venkman, Egon Spengler, Ray Stanz and Winston Zeddmore , if these names mean anything to you at all and they strike all the right nostalgia keys then you are in the right place. Ghostbusters Afterlife, the latest movie in the franchise and unlike the 2016 DUMPSTER FIRE movie, Afterlife takes place in the same universe as the original movies.
What can I say about this movie? 7 year old me was jumping for joy for the entire 2 hr+ ride. A few key moments in the movie that literally sent chills down my spine, from the sound of the proton pack powering up, the blaring siren of the ghosbuters car the Ecto-1, the appearance of the original team, the ghostbuster theme song and appearance of a few surprises that was totally unexpected from the original movie.
This movie is what I as an ardent Ghostbusters fan and most probably other fans out there wanted. A proper passing of the torch to the next generation while paying tribute to the original team at the same time establishing a new team, new lore and new adventures.
This movie was everything I ever wanted in a proper sequel and then some. The cinematography was excellent, special effects was stupendous ,pacing was pretty good and the nostalgia feels was just right. I give it a 15/10. Yes this will be one of the times the scoring system breaks. GO WATCH IT NOW~
