The Review

Acquired this game somewhere in October. It’s another one of those action cinematic games from REMEDY. The Alan Wake references also just made my inner fanboy scream with happiness. And this is my review.

Graphics

Just like every other game from REMEDY the graphics are downright amazing. It hurts my brain just looking at the sheer level of special effects that goes around this game. Character models are spot on and it features an all star cast that includes :

Shawn Ashmore – Jack Joyce (the hero) You might also remember him is Ice Man in the Xmen movies

Aiden Gillen – Paul Serene (Bad guy) Little finger in Game of Thrones

Dominic Monaghan – Willian Joyce (Plot device) Also played one of the hobbits in LOTR

Lance Reddick – Martin Hatch (Ominous Bad guy) – Also in the TV show Fringe

Courtney Hope – Beth Wilder (badass Love interest of the hero) Also plaued Jesse Faden in CONTROL

And god knows who else.  The environments are amazing, the details are sharp and crisp and the special effects when time and space breaks down all around you is epilepsy inducing. In case you haven’t gotten it yet…This game is beautiful!

Sound Effects

The high pitch sound similar to glass breaking when time breaks down, to the explosions that happen when you damage enemy armor and everything else in between. The sounds used are superb!

Music

It’s a game by REMEDY, rock songs are all over the place along with other good genres like pop & hip hop and also a bit of Old Gods of Asgard – Children of the Elder gods. And true to form of its TV show format, these songs appear at the end credits of each episode.

Gameplay

The Game plays similarly to Alan Wake & Control with some slight differences. You use your time powers to slow, rewind, freeze, speed dash, super speed running to achieve your goals. Watching your  enemies helplessly get riddled with bullets while they’re slowed down is nothing short of brutal and fun. Time shield also gives you time to think and breathe a bit. Upgrades to your powers are also possible, further expanding their usefulness and utility. Overall it’s fun :D

Verdict

The game can be punishing a times, especially when you’re not paying attention when the time stutters start or when your powers are drained. But as with all REMEDY games, the amazing soundtrack, the intense action and the movie/TV show style storytelling, this is a winner in my book. GET IT!

9/10
