Play Arts Kai Variant : WARMACHINE (KO)

 Name :  WARMACHINE (KO)

Toy Line : Play Arts Kai Variant

WARMACHINE, for years he was the secondary Iron man, the sidekick. But in recent years,
he has rised in popularity and also in an ever increasing bulk to his armor and fire power. While Iron Man was meant to be the futuristic, bleeding edge armor with elegant and exotic weapons, WM represents the best of the best  of conventional weapons packed in a futuristic form fitting tank.

The Figure

The PAK Variant line is a line that presents an alternate/variant design of the Marvel License. Everything is stylized and looks more anime-ish to me. It also doesn't fit in the standard 1/6 or 1/12. It's more of its own scale in a weird in between of those 2. Bear in mind the figure I have is a KO, surprisingly a very good one. Gone are the days when KO figures would fall apart when you sneeze or break when you look at it funny. So I'll be doing this review based on the "feel" of this KO and nothing else. Should I obtain the original someday, I'll do a comparison then.

The figure is predominantly, black, grey with some red accents on the eyes, repulsor reactor, thigh and palm repulsors

Accessories

WM comes with 2 types of missile pods, 4 types of smaller guns that plug into either forearm and 2 huge cannons that plug to his back. He also comes with 2 pairs of hands. Punchy hands and  open palm.

Sadly this version does not come with effect parts for the the weapons.  Oh it also has a stand :P

Build quality & Articulation

For a KO this thing is solid and doesn't feel fragile at all. Which is a surprising, since I have had a few ORIGINAL Playarts break on me out of the box (looking at you batman).

As for articulation, there are multiple points of articulation, single jointed elbows, double jointed knees, ab crunch, waist twist, ball hinge neck and ankle joints. Those are a lot of articulation, but due to the bulky design don't expect it to pull off acrobatics and ninja like poseability. It's a guy in armor with lots of guns. So just gauge the poseability from that perspective.

Conclusion

For a KO, this is a very good figure and I would assume the original would be superior. But this cost a fraction of the price. I got my review unit from iGamer Kuching Emporium. If you're ever around the area go check it out and maybe grab one of your own. Verdict - its very good, get it if you love Warmachine and want him on the cheap. 8/10
