Book Fair Last Day Major Haul!!

Went for the last day of the book fair. I used the vouchers that I had accumulated and bought the rest of the books I wanted. And the rest of my haul today was from the FREE section. So I are a very happy camper today. The books I got varies from the usual must have's of Star trek and Star wars, some really serious books like Media law and other stuff. The greatest find today was surprisingly an old Commodore 64 cartridge, ahh brings back memories it does. Now all I need to do is find a commodore 64 to run it :P

Anyways, that's it for the book fair coverage and hauls. Enjoy the pics :

Latest Bookfair Haul

In a perfect demonstration of my weakness to cheap books..I have once again ventured to that dreaded venue and ended up spending almost RM100 on books. So overall I believe I have spent over RM300 at the book fair alone. Book fairs are evil seriously, at this point in time I have no idea if quitting plastic crack was a good idea or not. Because I seem to be spending about the same amount of cash that I would be spending on a robot or action figure. Am I just compensating the fact that I quit plastic crack with Book crack now?? Regardless, I now have enough books to fill my time for about 6 months of non stop reading or a couple of years of casual reading. Here they are my latest acquisitions:

COMICS!! The Spiderman was an especially lucky find :P

Tomorrow is the last day of the book fair. God help me I feel the urge to go there and buy more stuff.

Mugger Identified

A little update from the previous post.

I guess this is as good an outcome as any, considering the circumstances. No one is gonna get flayed or nuked but hey at least they're gonna get one of them.

Riots, Battered students and then some

This is a video of a Malaysian student that was attacked while out looking for food to break fast In London. He got his jaw broken when he was attacked by a mob. Then he was helped up by people that helped themselves to the content of his back pack. Take a look :

Now if this were to happen in Malaysia and we had an expat kid getting smacked and robbed in a riot here, the international media, the whole world and a majority of the "educated elite" of Malaysia would criticize the bejesus out of Malaysia in every aspect. But since it's on the flip side all we had are just some minor press coverage and and the perpetrators so far had gotten away scott free. Worse yet no one from the international scene nor the "educated elite" of Malaysia seems to make much noise over the matter.

Oh I mean yes, we get reports every now and then but it seems that when it comes to their own stomping grounds the media there doesn't seem to cover everything with the near fanatical zeal and fervor that they normally do when they want to criticize and degrade Malaysia or any other country.

Hopefully this will also show to the locals that instability of any kind can and will happen in any country, and that this will finally make the Locals that are prone to idolize other countries to open their eyes. You have no idea how many times I've come across people that say "Like OMFG Malaysia is such a drag. Everything here is so wrong. back in (insert name of glorious ideal nation here) things are so much better in every sense. People there piss champagne, fart perfume and crap out rainbows. Nothing can go wrong there". So yeah after hearing that for the millionth time I got really sick of it.

So all I can say is wake up world. Time for us to be on our toes and try to make this world work. And hopefully someday things will get better.

Goldran High Quality Bootleg

A downsized version of Goldran from the brave series. It really is a solid piece and for what it is and the price is totally worth it. But remember it is still a bootleg so some concessions were taken when they made it. The forearm missile launchers are gone the chest piece can no longer be detached from the robot body. And the mode that suffers the most, the Mecha Godzilla mode is missing its lower jaw. But like I said in my Vehicle Voltron review, the mode that matters the most is mostly intact. Now if they actually released Sorakage and Leon Kaiser, I could actually make a mini Great Goldran, provided that none of the parts were modified too much to prevent this combination. But for a more detailed look on what they took out from this mini bootleg, take a look at this video of the original:

For what it's worth,Goldran here is a really good robot toy. The price I got it for reminded me of the price of ORIGINAL robot toys of similar size back in the 80's. Cheap now, but back then RM16.90 was a week's worth of lunch. Anyways here are the pics:
