Life Size Mazinger Z and other Super robots

I was just browsing for some super robot love today, Jumbo Machinders (JM) to be specific. For those not in the know JM's are huge robots that were big back in the 70's - 80's featuring some of the more notable super robots like Mazinger Z, Grendizer, Getter Robo and so on. And being a retiring robot collector, I know my robots quite well, I know that JM's can get as big as 32 inches tall and are just amazing centerpieces for you to display. And I thought I've seen them all, until I came upon this by chance :

And these guys are up for sale on ebay :

So hey if you got the spare cash go for it. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford to get me one of these without dire consequences.

Sideshow Darth Vader

One of my 1st 1/6 scale figures, I bought Darth Vader (DV) back then only because I just missed on the Sideshow Jedi Luke Skywalker. And I had no regrets, plus compared to nowadays, 1/6 figs from Sideshow were cheaper compared Hot toys. I kinda wished that Sideshow would be more active in 1/6 scale figures like before, but since the coming of Hot Toys I guess they decided it was easier just to import HT products instead. DV here came from an era where Sideshow was the premier 1/6 scale makers and HT wasn't even around yet or they were not that famous. And I really love this figure, it may be "Old Tech" to most of the HT collectors, but back in the day this was it...the Numero Uno Sideshow Buck Body. And here is Darth Vader:

Sideshow Darth Maul

Inspired by my finding :Rick Hunter I dug up my 2 first 1/6 scale figures. Darth Maul and Darth Vader (Evil Anakin mode) from Sideshow, as these 2 never had any decent photo's being taken of them. So now years later as digital camera's have become more affordable and I am earning waay more then before to acutally buy one it's finally time for Maul and Vader to Shine. And here are their pics:

RICK Hunter/Hikaru Ichijo 1/6 figure

This particular figure has been sitting there on the shelf at a shop in Sarawak Plaza for the longest time ever. I think it was near the end of 2006 that it came in. Only ONE, and I have been eyeing it since that day even read a review on it here:Mwctoys. Always wanted it but it was cost prohibitive at the time.

So days turn into weeks, months, years and VOILA we have arrived in the present. The year is 2011 and I had almost forgotten about Rick Hunter (yes he is RICK HUNTER). But as fate would have it, I was walking around with a friend and we passed the shop that had it. We walked in looked around and BOOM I saw Rick standing there in the shelf, I saw a price tag hanging from his left wrist and the price that I saw SHOCKED me. It was priced at RM39.90 (13.1228 USD) down from Rm244 ++ (80 USD) years before.

So I ran into the store and asked the lady if the price was correct and if the box was still around. So she went to confirm the price with the boss and looked for the box. It was indeed a perfect find. I got this guy Complete. The Box is kinda banged up but I don't really mind, coz it's finally mine mine mine!!

So here it is 1/6 Rick Hunter/Hikaru Ichijo from Popbox collectibles :

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Collector Cards

Another random Item that I found in my box of forgotten items. I got this back at the movie premier of LXG as part of the media press kit (I think). Anyhoo the cards are still shiny and nice and I might go laminate them just to preserve them as a collectible. Will post up more random stuff that I found in the box later on when i can take pics of them.

Street Shark Villian SLASH!

I was cleaning up my room again ( trust me I have a lot of junk) and I found slash here buried deep in the box of my old toys. I got this guy back at a charity sale 12 years ago, and I wasn't even collecting back then. But it's interesting to see it's still in good shape (for the most part). The best part, I never knew what he was until 3 years ago when I actually bothered to do an internet search on him. The drill piece is of course missing, I got him without it. Overall not bad for a mutant toy from the 90's. Well he's back on the shelf now and here is SLASH:

Capsule Toy Gun

I've done model kits before and I mean those high end Master grade Gundam Model Kits with parts so small you needed tweezers to put them together. So when I saw this little gun with it's pieces inside a little capsule I thought to myself "how hard can it be?" The answer to that would be IT TOOK ME BLOODY 40 MINUTES TO PUT IT TOGETHER!!!! Not because of it's complexity, but more towards the fact that I was staring at the wrong side of the instructions as the little manual came with illustrations for ALL the guns in the series.

When I finally figured out which Gun I actually had, following the steps was another arduous task as they do not illustrate clearly which part goes where. So after fumbling around like a dumb ass for a good 40 mins..I finally got it together. And here is the end result:

THAI ME UP!

Went to The Spring for dinner with parental units to have a small celebration for my passing my Govt Induction program :P The cat was at our table asking for food.

Astana Grilled Burger

Went for dinner at my GF's Fave Burger place at Jalan Astana. This place is one of the 3 places in Kuching that I know of that has really good burger's. Good enough to actually put KFC and Sugar Bun to shame and give Mickey D's a run for it's money. The home made patties are huge and the meat sauce is just heavenly. I might get the pic of the other 2 places. But for now here is AGB:

Accident and Spring's Parking Fee increases :(

Happened on a sunday when I went out with my Cousin's. We saw an accident happen right in front of us:

And another depressing news. As a sign that the economy is really bad THE SPRING, the only jumbo sized Mall in Kuching that matter's right now has decided to revise their parking fee's. FAK MAI LAIFE :(

Absolute Tribal Restaurant

Looking and taking pics of people dressed up as anime characters is a very tiring thing to do and of course it works up the appetite. We were on a tight budget bit luckily The Hills Mall had an eatery called Absolute Tribal. They had this "quick lunch" deal at RM6 per meal. Gave it a try and it was pretty ok. I ordered the Rice with tofu soup and Weena ordered the noodles. Also pics of the LHDN building from the restaurant

Zimah's first taste of alcohol

Weena and I "popped Zimah's Cherry" in a way when we brought her to have her first taste of Alcohol :P It was nothing heavy though just a little Pina Colada that's all, and she said she liked it. Just hope I didn't create a booze chugging monster. The stout is mine BTW.

Kyan!me 2011 Hills Shopping Mall

Another year another cosplay event. Decided to go take a look since some of my friends are actually involved into this kind of thing. Pretty fun event, aside from cosplay there were also Gundam display's, Lomography displays are people generally being silly. Pedo-Bear made an appearance as well :P

RPM GOLD RANGER

Finally decided to take out the gold ranger from his box. I was happy to finally do it and even bought a new gold marker to have some highlights done. Alas my joy did not last long as there is a QC problem with the ranger. The Left arm broke at the elbow out of the box....So I had no choice but to glue it back in, now the left arm has no elbow articulation :( overall though the figure is quite nice and I do plan to paint the weapons eventually so that it'll look cooler :D So apart from the busted arm I love this figure and I'd recommend you getting it especially if you're a power rangers fan. Here are the pics with the painted back part of the belt at the end.

San Francissco Grill Dinner

Decided to go try out San Francissco Grill right after they remodeled the place. I gotta say I prefer this new open concept rather than the old really dark creepy phyne dining restaurant concept. Food is still as good as ever.

Gawai Dinner

Ah yes Gawai, the celebration of the Harvest festival in Sarawak. A 2 day public Holiday where friends and family gather for food and booze. And this is one such event.

Ultra Act Belial

My cousin lent me his Ultraman Belial from the Ultra-Act line of figures from bandai. Figure is pretty awesome actually and looks really evil. Poseability is equal to that of SH Figuarts and it comes with a bunch of accessories. Here are pics :

A very Interesting find...

Was going through my old blog when I came upon A very interesting old post. Wrote this a few months after I got out of a really bad relationship of 3 years back then. It was the pre-requisites of my next GF and as you can tell from the list, the previous relationship was so bad I had to come up with 30 points just to counteract the potential madness of a future GF.

Looking back and reading this again, I can't help but laugh at the list and and realize how frazzled my brain was back then. So did I get a girl that fulfilled all 30 requirements?? Well I gotta say I actually DID :D So I guess the list really does work. 5 years down the line and I am happy :)

PEACE OUT YO!

Blade King Form

Another Pre-retirement Pre-order. Kamen Rider Blade's ultimate form and a pretty sweet looking Kiwami Tamashii figure. Like I mentioned in my Wild Chalice picture review these figures are scaled down SIC's and are only ever so slightly bigger than Star wars or G.I Joe figures. All in all the detail on Blade King Form(BKF) is gorgeous to the max and it's on par with it's 9 inch tall SIC counterpart. There are only 2 issue's I have with the figure. 1)The the swords it came with are not fully painted on one side (easily fixed with gold and silver paint pens) and 2) the Weapon holding hands do not hold the Weapons well. (you either need to make the handle bigger or make the hand grip closer with the Hot and cold water trick which I will do when I have time). Other than that it is beautiful. Here are pics
