Great Mazinger with Gundam Stand experiment

After seeing videos of the Tamashii act Stage 5 reviews on youtube, I couldn't help but notice the similarities in the design with a gundam stand. So I decided to go out buy 1 to give it a try and VOILA it worked Like a charm. Thanks to the peg type joint, I can officially say that the Gundam stands for 1/144 works with your super robot chogokins. Of course with Generations Megatron being the default bad guy that my Hero robots beat up :P

Spring Cleaning 2011

After years upon years I finally took my lazy ass up and did some major spring cleaning of my collection. This of course involves the disposal of the boxes/blister packs that my robots come in, as they are the ones that take up tons of storage. So now all my deluxe size transformers are inside individual plastic bags along with their respective weapons, instructions and character cards. Also this was the spring cleaning that made me realize that I had way too many robots and it just had to stop lest it overran my entire house. Anyways here are pics that I took of the clean up, notice that the transformers were cheaper back circa 2004/2005.

Now its finally over...

Whatever shall I do??

I've been collecting for about a very long time, quite possibly close to a decade or even more. And In that time I've amassed lots and lots of robots, action figures, comic books and a bunch of other stuff. And then after doing some spring cleaning it finally hit me, where is all this going? I mean sure it's great that I have a collection of really awesome looking figures but the realization that they are just taking up too much space and draining me financially is a very big wake up call. Took me a while to come to this realization but it finally came regardless.

Also the toys/robots/action figures these days are very weird I guess is one way to put it. I stopped buying transformers because the design of the new toys especially the movie line were horrendous with a few minor exceptions. Next would be the cost of maintaining the hobby, I mean the price hike is just insane if you really think about it. And I do have other financial responsibilities to take care of. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's high time for me to retire from this game. Yeah yeah I know what you're thinking...famous last words and all but this time I've decided to stop for good. I got like 3 more pieces coming in and then it's time to call it a day.

I know for a fact that it'll hurt like hell and I know that I will find myself uncontrollably walk down to the toy isle at TRU or any other mall just to take a look at whats what, but as for buying them, I can't anymore. So the last piece of "NEW" toy you'll see here will be the Hot Toys Iron man MK6 which is due in May. Anything else toy related appearing in this blog will be old stuff that I've never taken out before or just random updates on figures/robots I decided to re-shoot.

It was a good run but it's gotta end sometime right??

Hyper Clock Up!!!

My Hyper Kabuto finally arrived courtesy of Hayasa Hobby shop. And in my ongoing quest to collect the most powerful modes of Kamen Riders this guy does not disappoint. Joints are nice and tight, sculpting is nice. The only tiny gripe I had was the minor paint problems. But then again this is very minor, an interesting thing to note though is that Hyper Kabuto's feet are not metal so he feels lighter than most of the other releases in the series. But with plastic feet the fear of paint chipping is gone :P

Tamashii Stage Act 3

I went to a local hobby shop to get 4 of these stands. These pictures are a result of me mucking around with it for the 1st time. I'll post up more pics with the stands when I can. But seriously these things add a whole new dimension of display possibilities with your action figures.

Trying out a new line of figures

Well what can I say? Super robot chogokin a new line from Bandai. It's pretty much an offshoot of the Soul of Chogokin Series but on a smaller scale and with SH Figuarts articulation. I have waited years for an affordable line of super robots. At 1st I though it would be the revoltech series and yes I have Mazinkaiser, Shin Getter Robo and Black getter. But somehow it just didn't feel quite right. I mean they were good toys but it was just lacking.

Then came the SRC line, which I think was riding on the popularity of the Figuarts series since there are some design similarities in the joints. I have to be honest, I only bought the Great Mazinger because I got bored of waiting for my Emperor Kiva, which is taking a frakking long time to get here. And I was very glad I took that plunge. And honestly the 2 mazingers are the best of the bunch so far, I took a look at the rest of the line up of the series and nothing else interest me.

But if you like super robots and Mazingers in particular I recommend you get them coz they are pretty much AWESOME and AFFORDABLE. And these are 2 words you don't see in the same sentence often.

Adios!

Super Robot Chogokin Mazinger Z

Decided to get the Mazinger Z Super Robot Chogokin, just to complement my Great mazinger. Mazinger and great Mazinger are the best releases in the line So far in my opinion. The rest so far don't do it for me. Now if they bring out the original Mazinkaiser and Tosho Daimos, then I might continue with this line.
